Battle Ground Women Deceive to Get Loan
Court documents suppose a Battle Ground woman used her grandmother’s information without approval to co-sign $250,000 in student loans. She was Sharla A. Got, 41 old, was imposed in Tippecanoe Superior Court 2 with seven counts of forgery and one count each of counterfeiting and identity deception last week , all of the counts are felonies.
On Monday, Sharla A. Gott turned herself in to the Tippecanoe County Jail,Dan Shumaker as a Detective of the Lafayette Police Department said.She was acquitted after posting a $10,000 collateral bond. In September 2009, the victim’s sons were first contacted Investigators. The accusation to Gott date back to May 2006.
The charges were filed only recently because it took a long time to arrange all required documents, including paperwork from the loan company, Dan Shumaker said. In 2004 or 2005, Gott’s grandmother had agreed to co-sign two education loans for Gott providing her retirement fund information and Social Security number.
In 2009 Gott’s grandmother began pay off the loans. She became leery when the monthly payments increased from $219 to $1,265. The deception portion amounted to $250,000 Shumaker said. He added that the loans are believed to have been correspond to Sharla A.Gott’s education.
