Health insurance for students PG of Bangalore University
For the first time, the Bangalore University started this academic year has introduced medical insurance policies for post-graduate students. In using this insurance, the student does not need to spend any money because the sum of all premiums will be borne and paid by the university. Bangalore University will cooperate with the National Insurance Company (NIC) to provide bid health and accident insurance for post-graduate students and provide health insurance to students.
Dr N Prabhu Dev as vice chancellor, BU said that the university would pay annual premiums `582 for each student and all about` 20 lakh would be spent under this head in a year. On Wednesday, before the university’s academic council meeting, proposals on medical policy for the PG students have been introduced and all board members approved the proposal.
Prabhu Dev explains that this is another step for the welfare of students, such as providing food at mid-day, which has been introduced recently. This scheme is called “Vidyarthi Medical Policies for Students”. Post-graduate student who has met the requirements will obtain medical services up to Rs50, 000 and this policy will cover about 3,500 students.
The University will provide compensation of Rs50, 000 to families for students who have died. A student loses his property or as family breadwinners in this case, the scheme will also provide education costs. In addition, students will receive funding of RS1 lakh to continue her studies when she suffered case like that.
