Central Bank Governor Basci travel to the U.S.
Turkish Central Bank Governor Erdem Basci will go to the United States on Wednesday to attend a major symposium for leaders of the world’s leading central banks. The Jackson Hole, Wyoming, the meeting will be held by the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City.
In recent years the bank has been expecting the central bank officials from several countries. Mountain this year’s annual symposium in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, will begin be held from August 26 to 28. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke will also attend the event to address the annual Jackson Hole symposium participants.
Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City every year since 1978 has sponsored a symposium on such important economic issues facing the U.S. economy and the world. Symposium participants that the leading central bankers, finance ministers, academics and includes players from all over the world financial markets. The meeting participants will discuss economic issues, implications and policy options related to the topic of the symposium. Symposium covers the process of the document, comments and discussions, Kansas City Fed said on its website.
Basci has received appreciation from other central bank governors after making proactive steps to offset the negative effects caused by the global financial turmoil. Recently, Basci central bank cut its benchmark interest rate by 50 basis points to 5.75 percent despite making international and national pressure to run the opposite, just one day before the Standard & Poor’s downgrade of U.S. debt that caused a major crisis in the global marketplace and giving shock waves throughout the world.
