“Insurance system fails to handle victims of road accidents in NSW”, bar associations claim
The state’s bar associations said that the victims of motor accidents in NSW should get better service and receive compensation from reaping huge profits on compulsory insurance for drivers. NSW Bar Association has urged that an independent investigation of the state personal injury laws and compulsory third party insurance system which will work for people who are injured on the road.
Bernard Coles QC as president of the association stating that insurance companies will make huge profits under the scheme slip as green when the remaining 90 percent of victims do not get compensation. “In a statement today, he also said that some of those who benefit more should the profits be given to accident victims as compensation for their injuries without the need for a green slip price hikes,” he added.
Under these circumstances, the benefits cannot be justified in the public mandatory system. Mr. Coles explained that previously, the government has made changes to the law of personal injury that resulted in thousands of people refused to get proper compensation for their injuries. “Today, people who were injured in this state urgent to do investigation in personal injury law are required to restore balance to the system”, Mr. Coles said.
