A public meeting is held to find the way increasing insurance availability and affordability in Alabama
Next week, North Alabama residents are forced to voice their opinions on the topic of private property insurance reform at a public meeting. The Alabama Affordable Homeowners Insurance Commission will become host in a forum on Monday at Guntersville Town Hall. Joe Demos as regional chair of the AHIC said that citizens would have the opportunity to avoid the commission during a two-hour public comment period.
Property owners and group and association representatives are pushed for sharing their concerns with commission members. Those who want to avoid the commission have to be registered at 5:45 p.m. A sign-up sheet may be taken at the entrance to the auditorium from 4 to 5:45 p.m. Speakers will be determined randomly from the sign-up list. “ Everyone have an opportunity to argued, but individuals have only two-minute comment period, and groups and associations will be given a four-minute comment period,” Demos said.
“As commission chairperson, I was very thankful to Governor Bentley which so committed to increase insurance availability and affordability in Alabama,” Tim Russell as chairperson of the AHIC said. He added that all of our members had been committed to searching and finding the very best solutions possible, and the way to do that was by public forums like this. We may make progressing by working together and listening to citizens’ thoughts and opinions.
