Many young drivers driving their vehicle without insurance because of high insurance pricing
The House of Commons Transport Committee and Young Marmalade insurance company conducted a poll of 1,127 young drivers and had found that 96 per cent of people felt the premium of insurance was higher than before. Many people went online for finding money-saving tips for teens in order to avoid paying high premiums, while 21 per cent of young drivers told that they had been assumed getting money behind the wheel without insurance.
Press Association reported that in order to get a lower quote, 30 per cent of young drivers had ever thought for giving false information about their circumstances. Data from the AA’s Insurance Premium Index revealed that in July the annual Shoparound premium for a male aged 17 to 22 years old was £2,872 while £1,671 was the premium for a female of the same age. Louise Ellman as chairman of the Commons’ Transport Committee told that the results of the poll and the cost of young driver insurance made her worried.
She also said that many young drivers which were considered breaking the law by changing the details they provide to insurers and driving without insurance for getting a cheaper premium. She added that it’s showing that most young drivers realized that many insurers accepted referral fees for dealing with claims they make. Therefore, referral fees to be made more transparent in its report on the cost of motor insurance earlier this year.
