Now that many people know the benefits of using primers on the lid for eyeshadows, almost every brand has some type of primer available. Two Faced Shadow Insurance is my pick after trying numerous ones. I had hooded lids that can get oily at times. The consistency of the TFSI is thicker and drier than others i’ve used. This might sound like a recipe for disaster but it keeps my lid dry and prevents creasing better than for example UD primer potion (the formula is too thin and watery). The packaging is also easier to use and allows you to get every single ounce of product out. At $17, do not be scared off by the price, this one tube can easily last a year. I use shadow 5 out of 7 days of the week and i still have plenty left after 9 months.

This product is not recommended for people with oily skin. I’ve never worn eyeshadow primer before, so I was quite excited to try this out. However, I ended up being disappointed as I still experienced creasing, especially on my right lid. After about five hours, the eyeshadow on the crease of my eyelid had completely smudged off. I got the same results after trying out several different brands of eyeshadow, so I don’t think the make-up I was wearing was the problem.

I know people swear by Urban Decay Primer Potion but this beats that easily. Primer Potion must be formulated for dry skinned women who never sweat or have to deal with humidity because it did nothing – I might as well have put water on my eyelids. My shadow was creased and mostly gone after several hours. Too Faced Shadow Insurance is an entirely different story. It makes my shadow last without creasing until I take it off. And the tube is great. Urban Decay’s little bottle may be cute but it’s really annoying and the sponge applicator doesn’t really work well – you end up having to use your finger anyway so what’s the point. This stuff is absolutely the best primer I’ve ever found.

I have been using this product for a number of months. It leaves the lids primed and ready for shadow without creasing your eyelids. The bonus is that you squeeze it from the tube (I use my fingers) and don’t keep dipping an applicator in and out of a “tube” which can lead to contamination of the product. It’s certainly worth the money and is as good as any other on the market!
