One in ten thinks their EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) is a travel insurance replacement. One in ten believes that because they are healthy only the insurance is not required. An accident or illness that lands you in a European hospital can easily cost two thousand pounds over what the European mutual arrangements may include using your EHIC, and more than £ 10,000 while on vacation in the United States.
