Insurance Policyholders Should be Wary of Leaving Engines Running
Most of us will be able to think of a time when we got in the car, started the engine, and then realized that we have forgotten something and quickly nipped back from the car, the engine running while we pop and grab everything what we left behind. In fact there are some people who do this on a regular basis, and leave the car with the engine running while they chat with a neighbor, pop back in to pick up something, or a call on their mobile phone.
According to figures nearly 50 percent of drivers tend to keep the engine running when they nip back inside to get something to look at something or leave. But what most of them do not know is that they could end up with invalid insurance if the vehicle is stolen. The number of vehicles that get stolen each year from outside of housing comes to over € 12.5 million in value. This is basically like handing the keys of thieves on a plate – that means they do not have to break in, they did not take the vehicle Hotwire, and because the engine was already most people will not bat an eyelid as they see the car being driven. The survey found that nearly 50 percent of our car runs out in this way to leave the house, often up to the vehicle, while our business to warn.
