The motorcycle riders without helmets will be charged an additional insurance of $1000 per year
LANSING, MI (WKZO) – In Michigan, the bikers are allowed to ride a motorcycle without a helmet. However, motorists will be charged an additional fee of one thousand dollars per year as additional insurance if they want to do it.
State Senate has issued a bill that would oblige motorists to purchase at least $100-thousand dollars in medical coverage. That’s because they have a very high risk of accidents. Bruce Caswell as the senator says that he does not understand why the state of Michigan requires children to use helmets when they’re riding a motorcycle with his parents, but adults are not required to wear a helmet when riding a motorcycle.
Additional insurance is designed to provide the greatest argument against motorcyclists not wearing helmets and they do not feel guilty at all with it. Additional insurance will be used for bikers who have an accident with another vehicle on the road when they’re driving without wearing a helmet. Lately, insurance companies have been stuck with paying their medical bills when the bikers are not wearing a helmet collided with another vehicle.
Therefore, the insurance carriers must be firm in dealing bikers who do not want to pay this additional insurance. Snyder as the governor has not said whether he will sign this bill or not because he expects additional insurance is valid only for car as car insurance coverage. However, Parliament has not taken action to resolve this problem until early this fall.
