Financial Ombudsman received many complaints from One million consumers
In the past year, the Financial Services Ombudsman to investigate a record number of disputes that occurred at that time. This is because more than 200,000 consumers have filed an official complaint to the Ombudsman about the banks, insurance and Investment Company there.
In the annual report issued this morning, the Ombudsman explained that this was a quick response to about 4,000 complaints per day from consumers who were dissatisfied. The number totals more than one million consumer complaints per year. The main factor is the biggest complaint about the sale of payment protection insurance against them, which are routinely sold loans and pay off their credit cards.
Complaints about this insurance more than half of new cases is shown. Parties to the Ombudsman said earlier organization had never found so many complaints about a single product such as insurance within one year. But not only the financial products that cause problems for consumers, there is also a sharp increase in complaints about other types of insurance, for example travel insurance, cars and mobile phones.
“In most cases customers complained that they thought that their legitimate demand was rejected. But in fact it happened because travel chaos because of the volcanic ash cloud in the past year, making travel insurance complaints jumped sharply.” said a spokesman for the FOS.
“Sometimes in most cases their insurance consumer unilaterally punish these errors although not their fault, and therefore the case must be investigated before the insurance previously concluded.” he added.
